RE: DeSabla-Centerville Hydroelectric Project, FERC No. 803-CA
Round Valley Dam, NATDAM No. CA00346
Discussion of Results of Seismic Analysis of Alternatives and
Plan and Schedule for Further Action
ENCLOSURES CONTAIN CUI//CEII – DO NOT RELEASE
Dear Frank L. Blackett:
This letter presents the results of an engineering study to analyze and evaluate potential improvement
alternatives to address seismic deficiencies of Round Valley Dam, which is part of PG&E’s DeSabla-
Centerville Hydroelectric Project, FERC No. 803. PG&E submitted its original plan and schedule for
providing the results of the Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) in a letter to FERC dated September 27, 2024.
PG&E filed an extension of time request in a letter dated August 13, 2025.
PG&E’s discussion of the results of the AoA and plan and schedule for further action are enclosed with this
letter (Enclosure 1). The AoA report is provided in (Enclosure 2). PG&E has reviewed the enclosed report
and concurs with the findings and conclusions presented therein. Although the report includes a
recommended alternative for potential improvements, PG&E recognizes that the engineering alternatives
evaluated as part of the study are conceptual and based on limited information. PG&E considers the
alternatives and recommendations presented in the report to be preliminary and subject to potential changes
based on additional investigation and analysis. The actual scope and timing of any future projects depend on
the results of further study.
Should you have technical questions concerning this matter, please contact Isabelle Rawlings, senior
dam safety engineer for PG&E, at (925) 359-5420. For general questions, please contact Andrew
Garcia, license coordinator for PG&E, at (530) 228-8990.
Sincerely,
Robert O. Ellis, P.E., G.E.
Deputy Chief Dam Safety Engineer
