New Hampshire is not alone in raising these issues about mRNA vaccines. Concerns
about mRNA vaccines in general are increasing nationally:
* Tennessee, Arizona, and Minnesota have each introduced legislation to ban mRNA
vaccines.
* In January 2024, the Florida Surgeon General called for a “Halt in the use of COVID-19
mRNA vaccines.
* Broader concerns exist for the use of mRNA technology in other vaccines. In 2025, the
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) ceased its mRNA vaccine
development activities under the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development
Authority (BARDA) such that no new mRNA-based projects will be initiated. In total, this
affects 22 projects worth nearly $500 million.
