This decision follows careful review of our current funding status, operating obligations, and responsibility to ensure that our programs can be delivered safely, responsibly, and sustainably. Currently, we do not have the confirmed funding necessary to continue program operations for Sensible Cyclery and Pro Touch beyond our current closeout timeline. As a result, we are proceeding with the closure process, including communication with affected staff and stakeholders. Caminar was informed that we would hear about the funding decision by July 1; that has not happened. We have not heard any subsequent communication about when and how we might receive notifications of funding. We are operating without knowledge and cannot continue to self-fund these programs. The only circumstance under which we will change course is if Caminar receives written notification by July 31, 2026 confirming that the requested funding has been awarded. If we receive that confirmation by that date, we will immediately reassess the closure plan and take the necessary steps to continue the program consistent with the terms and timing of the award. We recognize the importance of these programs to the individuals and communities they serve, and this decision was not made lightly. Our priority during this period is to manage the closure in a transparent and responsible manner, minimize disruption wherever possible, and support our staff as much as possible. I am writing to you as a stakeholder of services in Butte County Department of Behavioral Health so that you are aware of the situation. We remain available to discuss the program status and are open to joining conversations with Butte County to help facilitate a prompt resolution.
