State Route 162 Full Closure Scheduled in Willows
Motorists Should Expect Delays and Use Alternate Routes During Daytime Closures
WILLOWS – Caltrans is alerting motorists of a full closure on State Route 162 (SR 162) in
Willows for paving and roadway repair work. Crews are scheduled to perform paving
operations from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, August 19-20, and Monday
and Tuesday, August 24-25.
SR 162 will be fully closed at the intersection of Wood Street and North Tehama Street
during work hours. Paving operations will extend from the railroad tracks, through the
intersection, to North Butte Street. Detours will be in place for passenger vehicles during
the closure. Commercial trucks will need to use an alternate route and should plan ahead
to avoid the closure area.
Portable Changeable Message Signs (PCMS) will be placed in advance of work to notify
motorists of the closure and alternate route. Motorists traveling through the Willows area
should expect delays, allow additional travel time and use alternate routes when possible.
The paving work is necessary to repair the roadway and provide a safer, smoother driving
surface for motorists.

· Wednesday, August 19: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
· Thursday, August 20: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
· Monday, August 24: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
· Tuesday, August 25: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11
Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work
Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews
performing these improvements.
