Thank you for your continued commitment to learning, leadership, and public service. Every
opportunity to reflect, learn, and gain a new perspective can strengthen how we show up for our

At the CSAC Institute, we’re proud to create spaces for county professionals to continue growing
and learning from one another. This week, we’re highlighting special program updates, an
upcoming free webinar on employee engagement, reflections on building resilience and
strengthening leadership, and our upcoming virtual courses.
Elevate Your Leadership: The Technology Executive
Credential
In partnership with the California County Information Services Directors Association (CCISDA),
the 2026-27 Technology Executive Credential Program offers refreshed new courses,
including hands-on experience that participants can look forward to!
Participants will explore in-depth leadership and technology topics, guided by nationally
recognized instructors and county IT specialists. This year-long program wraps up with a
capstone project led by CCISDA. Learn more about the program here.
Proven Impact
When alums were asked about the benefits of the program:
· 95% feel that they are a better leader, having gone through the program.
· 44% can identify specific outcomes or results attributed directly to their participation.
Overall, technology alums reported that the program impacted their effectiveness and were able
to apply concepts to their daily work.

Upcoming Free Webinar!
County leaders across the state have told the CSAC Institute they're looking for new strategies
to engage their employees. In response, the California Counties Foundation is learning from
partners across the country, launching a new program with LARA (Michigan's Department of
Licensing and Regulatory Affairs), the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), and
ASPA's Sacramento Chapter to bring county professionals a free webinar on employee
engagement. Presenters Dr. Marlon I. Brown and Ms. Jaclyn Badder will draw on LARA's
experience prioritizing engagement as a core strategic pillar to share practical, transferable
insights.
Attendees will:
· Understand why employee engagement matters in today's work environment
· See how engagement drives team and organizational effectiveness
· Identify ways to build engagement into their own operational strategy
This is a free 2.5-hour webinar on Zoom occurring October 16, 2026, from 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Building Resilience, Strengthening Leadership
Fresno County employees participate in Managing Yourself to Lead Others, facilitated by Cal-IPGCA Master
Innovation Facilitator, Michelle Schmit
Effective leadership isn't only about how we guide others. It also starts with how we manage
ourselves.
On August 21st, leaders from the Fresno County Campus joined CAL-IPGCA Master Facilitator,
Michelle Schmitt, for the course, Managing Yourself to Lead Others. Through discussions and
mindfulness practices, participants examined how stress can shape the way they work and lead,
while developing strategies to strengthen focus, build personal resilience, and navigate the
demands of public service.
One participant reflected that the course "opened up my mind further to the real value of
being present and taking care of ourselves to serve others."
For county leaders, investing in their well-being has an impact that reaches far beyond
themselves. The habits leaders build and the way they approach challenges can influence their
teams, shape their organizations, and ultimately strengthen the communities they serve.
Thank you to Michelle for creating the space for these important conversations and to Fresno,
Kings, Madera, and Tulare Counties for continuing to encourage the learning and development
of its leaders. We are so grateful for your partnership and commitment to strengthening public
service!
